Oh no.
It's that time of the year again. Freakin' school.
I know, I know, it's good for me, but that doesn't stop me from being bummed out about my freedom being taken away by classes and papers. Stupid school.
In order to keep myself from being too sad, I remind myself that school at least means fall is around the corner and along with fall comes the dream of new fall clothes and projects.
I love this skull cardigan from ModCloth. I want it so much! I know I'd wear it all the time. It's sweet AND rocker AND vintage style all at the same time. Sad thing is? SOLD OUT! I know, right?
I also love this cardigan from hottopic. I pinned this a while ago, so it isn't available anymore. It's delicate yet tough and I think it would be a great piece for those late summer/early fall days.
I've been looking for some neat DIYs for the home, and I think this needs to be one of them. I adore vintage scarves and rarely wear them, but I buy them all the time. Making them into eclectic patchy curtains would be a great thing to try out!
Speaking of things to do with vintage scarves, I'm going to try this out, too. I need to break outside of my comfort zone (which you've seen- I mean, I wear the same two hair styles all the time) and try something new. I think I might look cute with a scarf tied up like this, and with fall approaching it would be warm, too!
I need a new pair of tonks. (What I call my Minnetonkas.) I tried TOMS as my summer shoe, but they make my feel smell really bad even though they are SO COMFY, and as much as I love Chucks sometimes you just want something to slip on without socks or with a dress. So I'm eying up some new loafer style Minnetonkas!
You know. When I'm not broke as fuck.
Bleaching my hair would have been better in the winter. I didn't take into account waiting for the bus in the summer sun when I bleached my hair and I think the heat really took a toll on my hair. I could use a quick trim, and I think my hair would shape into this style pretty easy without losing too much length. I just gotta get the dead ends gone, right?
Of course, I also love this cut. Too bad my hair is so curly!
I love this cropped and studded camo jacket. I've been looking for an army-style jacket to do this to ever since Free People posted this image. Oh gosh, don't get me started on how I stalk Free People! I love everything they do! Ah!
When I was buying supplies for my sew-a-long with
Trees, the fabric shop I was at had a bunch of these appliques for a buck a pop, so I got two. I'm going to make a similar sweatshirt! It's so simple yet lovely for the winter and fall.
I want this scarf by Glamour Damaged so much. This woman makes the coolest beanies and is mommy to an adorable little puppy, and then she releases these awesome scarves!? Major want. I was telling my boyfriend's sister about how when it starts to get chilly, scarves become kind of my trademark. I'm never seen without one, and I love this style. Like a bandit!
I started stalking
Max California on Pinterest after noticing her awesome TUK boots the other day, and she had pinned this awesome tutorial from
Maraleopard. I really want to make a top like this! I think the trapeze style is awesome for winter and layering, and the loose fit will make it easy to wear in fall and spring, too.
My stalking of Max California led me to another lady I didn't know was on Pinterest but whose blog I love-
MarySew! I want to try out this tutorial so much!!
I remember the friday during the first week of school junior year, I was in a car accident. I had gotten really into making my punk wardrobe for school, so I can tell you exactly what I was wearing- a sheer black lace shirt with a black tank under, a high waist vintage black wool skirt with a giant gray safety pin painted on it, and tights and boots. (Boots, in August?!) When I saw this sweater on Pinterest, I felt the urge to recreate that skirt I used to have! Although, I do adore this safety pin in sweater form, too.
After my sew-a-long with Trees, I think this might be the next pattern I try out. Burdastyle has a lot of patterns that I'd like to try, but it seems I'm just a size too large for most of them. This would be easy to resize if I needed to, already comes in plus sizing, and I love how this version looks in black eyelet. I love the buttons!
More things on my list for my hair- some adorable hair accessories like this sugar skull! And I don't even need to wait for Halloween because skulls are every day accessories!
Last but not least, I'm saving up for my yearly pair of boots. These Becca boots seem like the grown up tough girl I want to be! I'm always wary of their sizing because my calves are enormous and docs always seem to be problematic with them, but I would risk it for these beauties! Drool!
What things are you looking forward to for fall (or summer, if you're in on that end of the world)?
Holy crap! I love everything in this post.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the kind words Meg. I miss chatting with you so much. Like my post said, I've simply had no time to do the things I actually LOVE because I've been so bogged down with work. I'm looking forward to making some much needed changes. I know you'll be fine and if you ever need me shoot me an email. I'd love to be pen pals. <3
Yah! What a fun post! I love the Marysew tutorial as well, she makes the cutest things. Also I am like slightly too big for Burda patterns is well - but then the plus size patterns always seem pretty naff. Oh Well. Yah for sugar skull hair accessories!
ReplyDeleteI love the safety pin and skull sweaters! Why is there such a lack of non-preppy sweaters out there.
