I think I managed to keep my resolutions from last year. Private ones- like finish first draft of the book (which I did, but had to start over because of a character switch) or sew something from a pattern (Lisette). Be someone I like. I think that was the big one- I wanted to be someone that I liked and I am. I would be friends with me. Still a little too pouty for my own good, and definitely haven't gotten a handle on my temper but in general, I like me this year. It was a good year. Mostly.
So here is the short list
Dear Dr Martens, please make the 14-eye shoe in more colors that are available to the US. It's not fair that the UK can still buy the purple ones and I can't. Love, Meghan
Party Poison and Julia Nunes. Of course, there are other favorite outfits. There is the tribute to my great-grandmother, the theme Wednesday of my mom, every Lisette dress I've ever made (but especially the Trees dress), but of the non-Lisette outfits I have to say these were my two favorites. Probably because of the memories involved.
With the Julia Nunes outfit I had a concert to go for and the performer has since become one of my favorite singers. I listen to Julia Nunes a lot now. I loved this $6 dress from Target (which I'm pretty sure was some kind of underwear) because it seemed vintage inspired and came with a little tie belt. I love the polka dot cardigan, too, and my shiny docs. And my vintage hat. And even almost ruining my friend's iPhone has become a kind of funny story surrounding that day.
With the Party Poison outfit, I had the chance to kind of cosplay as one of my favorite MCR characters ever- Party Poison. So cavalier, roguish, tricky, daring- it was very fun. I think that Wicked Faire is one of my favorite memories ever (even though it's insanely bitter, too). And it's funny that I'm wearing these grey docs in this picture- it was the year anniversary of my getting them!
2012: Some of my favorite posts.
- DIY - Cutting off your docs to fit your legs
- DIY- Triangle Tee
- Personal Style: All in the Details
- Personal Style: Horse of a Different Color
- Theme Wednesday: Great Grandmother
- Theme Wednesday: Trees
- My Chemical Care Package from Kristi
- Personal Style: New Boot Day (Kids from Yesterday Dress)
All in all, while there is some bitter stuff like losing friendships or losing your pet, or finding a job you're actually okay at and being surprised when people tell you that you're good at something but need more confidence (which is true- I lack confidence), it was still amazing. Good year. And already, looking at my work schedule and my "DIY to try" list and all the plans laid out for my books, I know 2013 is going to be breathtaking. At least I hope so. And I made new friends via this blog like Ally, Mouse, Megan Mae, Bella, Lara and Bethie. Every one of my readers is very important to me and I want you guys to know it.
Alright, enough with the maudlin bullshit. Let's toast to 2013 and how awesome it will be! That reminds me, I FINALLY learned to like wine. Last week. Squeaked that in right at the end of the year. -HEARTS
